Japan uses a five-level alert system to guide public response :
| Alert Level | Action Required | |-------------|------------------|
| Level 1 | Stay informed |
| Level 2 | Prepare for possible evacuation |
| Level 3 | Elderly and vulnerable should evacuate |
| Level 4 | Everyone should evacuate |
| Level 5 | Disaster occurring—take immediate action |
Understanding these levels helps you respond appropriately during emergencies.
Prepare two types of kits :
Go Bag : Essentials for quick evacuation (water, food, flashlight, documents)
Stay Bag : Supplies for sheltering in place (3–5 days of food, water, hygiene items)
Include items for pets, infants, and elderly family members.
