KABAYAN International Ltd. is committed to providing safe, secure, and legally compliant international remittance services.
In accordance with Japan’s Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act (FEFTA) and other applicable laws and regulations, KABAYAN International Ltd. implements appropriate procedures to help prevent remittance transactions from violating economic sanctions, asset-freezing measures, or other restrictions imposed by the Government of Japan.
Japan has implemented asset-freezing and other measures under FEFTA concerning persons and entities associated with North Korea’s nuclear, weapons of mass destruction, ballistic missile programs, and other activities prohibited under relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. These measures are intended, among other things, to prevent transfers of funds involving designated persons and entities. Japan also generally requires permission for payments to persons resident in North Korea and entities substantially controlled by such persons, subject to applicable exceptions.
KABAYAN International Ltd. conducts appropriate screening and verification to help prevent its remittance services from being used for transactions involving persons, entities, activities, or other circumstances subject to applicable North Korea-related sanctions and restrictions.
The Government of Japan has also implemented economic sanctions and other measures under FEFTA in response to the situation in Ukraine. These include asset-freezing and other restrictions applicable to designated persons and entities connected with Russia, Belarus, and other designated parties. Certain payments relating to restricted transactions and services may also require permission.
KABAYAN International Ltd. takes appropriate measures to ensure that remittance transactions are screened against applicable sanctions and restrictions relating to the situation in Ukraine.
To comply with these requirements, KABAYAN International Ltd. may verify information concerning :
the sender/remitter;
the recipient (beneficiary);
the recipient’s beneficial owner, where applicable;
the purpose and nature of the remittance; and
other information necessary to determine whether the transaction is subject to applicable sanctions or restrictions.
Customers may be requested to provide additional information or supporting documentation when necessary.
KABAYAN International Ltd. may delay, suspend, reject, or decline to process a transaction where additional verification is required or where processing the transaction could result in a violation of applicable laws, regulations, economic sanctions, or internal compliance requirements.
KABAYAN International Ltd. maintains procedures for sanctions screening, customer and beneficiary verification, transaction monitoring, and compliance review. We continuously review and strengthen these procedures in accordance with applicable Japanese laws and regulatory requirements.
Through these measures, KABAYAN International Ltd. is committed to preventing its remittance services from being used for prohibited transactions and to maintaining a safe, transparent, and compliant international remittance service for our customers.
